The Eye of the Hurricane
Goood morning!
"Birds flying high, you know how I feel
Sun in the sky, you know how I feelBreeze driftin' on by, you know how I feel..."
First and foremost, HAAAAAPPPPY NEW YEAR and welcome to 2021!
You kinda want to celebrate that we've made it thus far, don't you? But then again, it doesn't feel right, does it?
That's alright, but if you're reading this then turn to you neighbor and say, "We made it!"
Now, that we got that out of the way, let's get down to business because we need a plan of action to succeed in 2021!
You want to confuse the enemy? Marvin Sapp sang, "Praise Him in advance!"
We've lost so much last year; loved ones, jobs, money, sanity, you name it.
We've reached a new year, a new month, and I need somebody to catch on fire! Look back on the last year, the last month, the last week, even the last day.
My gosh.
And I tell you what, I'm making some changes for ME in 2021. I remember growing up, one of my friends had an older sister who's answering machine said, "... I've made some changes in my life, so if I don't call you back then you're one of those changes." and it's been heavy in my spirit lately.
Everybody that comes with you can't go with you and sometimes we try to hold on to things that God is actually trying to tear apart; find that line between being used and being utilized because as crazy as this may sound, Judas was apart of Jesus' plan. Ponder that!! That kiss sealed the deal on His journey to fulfill His purpose at that old rugged cross.
He paid the ultimate price so that we may have life and life more abundantly. (That's why I have so many pairs of shoes. Jesus did that!)
If you left 2020 the exact same way you entered it then you're the reason why we're still facing this pandemic and wearing these devilish masks that are breaking out my jawline after I finally started seeing some significant changes in my skin. (Go figure!!)
But I've changed. I feel it in the way I react or the lack there of to certain situations. I hear it when I'm speaking to others, and I love the growth I see in the way I shake and move in this world in spite of the chaos swirling around me. The world around us is terrifying! Hell is breaking loose all around us and yet, we feel hopeless. What are we supposed to do? We can only hoard so much toilet tissue at this point.
So, how about we stop the crying and the complaining? A lot of us haven't gotten very far in life because we are literally dwelling on the past; "If I hadn't had this baby..." "If I had gone to school..." "All those years that I wasted with him..." or you're placing the blame on everybody else. "My stimulus didn't hit..." "My vote doesn't matter, anyway..." "They haven't had the type of life I've had..."
Forgive them. Forgive yourself. And move on! A lot of us don't know what forgiveness actually means, so let me explain it to you the way Oprah explained it to me. Forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past can be changed.
Let. It. Go.
I titled this one, "The Eye of the Hurricane" because the eye is the calmest part of the hurricane and it's located in the center. The entire hurricane rotates AROUND the eye.
Got me?
Starting this blog wasn't as easy as I thought it would be and I'm not as far along with my home as I had hoped or my life and career, but I'm crazy enough to believe that I'm exactly where I need to be, I just have to exercise patience and fight off the discouragement!
I refuse to give up on me!
There has NEVER been a night not followed by day. There's always a rainbow after the rain and we all know that April showers bring May flowers.
We have to be that eye.
Look at all that there is to gain. There's still hope! When you don't have anything left in you, just hope. Did you know that hope is the beginning of faith? And after a while you stop hoping and you begin to believe and have faith.
Everybody wants to be successful, but nobody wants to work. I'm applying the pressure because effort is a requirement of success.
Practice does NOT make perfect, PERFECT practice makes perfection.
Let this year catapult you into your grand rising! Put forth a little more effort this year and continue to dream big! As long as you're living you should be LIVING! (Don't let that go over your head!)
One last piece of advice: Your next move doesn't require an announcement, just do it because the ones who didn't believe that you ever could will one day tell somebody how they know you.
In the meantime, Social distance.
And for the love of humanity, wear a mask!
... It's a new dawn... it's a new day... it's a new life for me... and I'm feeling gooooood!" ("Feeling Good" by: Nina Simone)
Without further adieu,
It is a pleasure to meet you!
